Wife and I would like to spend a few days in Santa Fe in early August. We'd like to stay on or near the Plaza. We checked with La Fonda and they have nothing available during our planned stay. Appreciate any recs from this well-traveled group.

LaFonda Hotel. Right on the city center with a great restaurant. Might not be the fanciest, but it’s the best for enjoying Santa Fe.

Inn and Spa at Loreto is a bit more upscale and would fit your criteria.

I think El Dorado would also fit.

I stayed at Villas de Santa Fe which is cheaper than those but very solid. It’s a mile from the Plaza and can be walked without a problem.

I think the Hacienda would also work but it may also be a slightly longer walk than the plaza hotels.

Thanks for the rec. We've booked a room at the Inn and Spa at Loretto.

That one is fine

We stayed at La Fonda last summer. Great location and yours is almost next door

Get drinks at Los poblanos Norte—it’s a boutique bar with great botanical gin cocktails. Half of it is store

Food recs

Dinner:
Geronimo
Sazon
The compound
La Choza

Lunch:
The teahouse
El chile toreado (food truck nominated for a James beard award)

If you have time check out Bandelier national monument. You can also white water raft the Rio grande about an hour away. There are wineries near where you raft which are fun to check out. Also check out meow wolf in SF

Santa Fe is a ton of fun

ETA: one of the best things we did was the sunset train ride with sky railway

Cafe Pasqual’s is another very good restaurant. Also close to the Plaza.

We're big fans of the Anasazi.
