Isn't there a new exit? TIA

Assuming you live in Lakeview...
I'd just take Robert E. Lee to Hayne. Left turn to KNEW.
About an hour later you'll land at KDTS. From there, just a few more minutes to your location.

Head due west into the sunset and turn left at the Rocky Mountains.

I've traveled from the Eastern Shore of Baldwin County to Destin too many times to count. Sometimes once a month to every weekend. Good luck with getting through the Tunnel on I10 from the west. That's a nightmare that is a another animal. Getting down to Destin; take exit 31 to HWY 87 on 98
It all depends on where you are staying in Destin

From an expert, how bad is this on Sundays? I'm assuming at least an hr backup if you're not through by 11am. I'll be down in Gulf Shores in September and will have to fly out of Gulfport, BR, or MSY back to Buffalo on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely trying not to book any flights before 2pm, but still think 2pm is pushing it.

If you arrive at the tunnel in the morning you should be good after that you never know.

Take the causeway if needed. Or just fly out of PNS.
