Looking for a fishing guide/outfitter in western Montana. Any suggestions?
I will be visiting Glacier National park in late August. Staying 4 days on the west side and 3-4 days on the east side. Only looking to fish for a 1/2 of day to a full day at most. Looking to catch some trout.
By the way, I'm driving from North Dakota.

I'd suggest posting on the Outdoor board. Not sure how familiar you are with fly fishing which is what I assume you are looking to do, but I'd highly recommend a full float trip if you've never done one. Full days are usually not much more than a half day as far as price. But the float trip over just wading you will cover way more ground and its an experience in itself just seeing so much pretty country.
I don't have any specific recommendations at all. There likely is not a lot of options though, just google whatever town you are in and fly fishing shops/ guides. You'll likely only have 3-5 options as far as companies at the most.
ETA: I'm not sure how Montana is or exactly how it works, but some rivers there have permits and some guides don't have the permits to fish everywhere. So its best to talk to a fly shop about where to fish, then find a guide that fishes that spot. Because you may find a guide that doesn't have the permits to fish what may be the best area for the time being.

The fishing is on the west side in the flathead and swan drainages. Call Bigfork Anglers or Lakestream Fly Shop. Try to book soon, the best guides out here book way in advance.

If you come to whitefish give Lakestream Fly Shop a visit. They’re about 2 blocks from where I live and have great guides that take you out to their river spots in the Flathead, Clark Fork, Missouri and Blackfoot but also have lake fishing options if our rivers are blown when you visit.
If you want to fish without a guide and have no license you can fish without one inside the park boundaries. Glacier Outfitters rents out fishing gear for nominal money and is located in Apgar Village next to the backcountry permits office. The owners, Shelby and Dave, are great people and good friends of mine.
