Family 4-day extended weekend

Need suggestions on a cheap (under $1000 if poss) extended weekend trip for family with small children out of New Orleans (7yo girl and 9mo girl)

Could pop over to Fairhope for a few nights? Might be at the Hampton Inn instead of the Grand Hotel, but still. The bay is nice, you have plenty of parks for the kids, and plenty of places to eat.

You could drive to Houston and do the city pass for everybody. I know it’s hot, but the city pass will keep you inside for the most part and the attractions will be good for you and the kid. Do the zoo early one morning to beat the heat. Stay in a nice hotel in the River Oaks area. Other than the city pass options you can hit the galleria, waterwall, and Astros or dynamo game.
