The girlfriend and I have started to plan a 2 week road trip. We are planning to fly into Portland and rent a vehicle and head for the coast. We plan to stay most nights in a tent while driving the coast down to San Diego. The only sights we have in mind so far are: Glass beach, the redwoods, see San Fran. Are there any other specific must see spots while we are taking our time going down the coast?
I would appreciate any must see places that y'all have to offer.

Hearst Castle is worth it IMO. I generally don't like that kind of this, but the grounds, scenery and castle are really amazing. You won't need to go out of your way either.

Twice we have flown to San Diego and driven the Pacific Coast Highway north to the Napa Valley. Besides L.A. and San Fransisco, the stops I remember included Capistrano, Solvang, San Simeon (Hearst Castle), Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Big Sur to name a few. That is one of my favorite vacations in the U.S. The ocean scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile.

If you want to see the redwoods, go to Muir Woods just north of S.F. We hiked some of their trails.

I've done it a few times. My main advice would be not to over schedule so you have time for all the random stops you'll want to make.
