We are booked for Nov 2-8th at Riverside, and our agent told us today that the first round of promotions, including free dining do not include our resort or dates.

this is our first visit, do you think this is all they will offer and we are SOL or do you think more promotions will come as we near?

Im starting to worry because she said we can move our dates to accommodate the promotions and/or free dining or leave our reservations and risk not receiving any promotions.

Don't tell my wife this or she'll be wanting to spend Christmas at Disney instead of New York

They will not add any dates for free dining.

Only one of your days has to fall within the dates and your entire trip with quality for free dining

Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter often get excluded from the free dining promotion. They are popular resorts.

It is very rare for the resorts to not offer some type of discount for the fall. 20-25% is the norm for the moderates. You SHOULD be fine.

I just checked Riverside. They are offering 20%(sorry math was wrong. 20 not 25 but still a pretty good deal.) off through October 7th so I would bet that your dates will come up soon for a discount.

Thanks. My 6 month window opens next week

Any recommendations for a good family dinner place?

I'm gonna find a place to watch LSU Bama on the 4th as well. Family in tow

Thinking ESPN zone or a brewery place on the boardwalk.

We are staying at The Boardwalk(this may change if I don't get a fricken discount myself!) mid October. We always watch the games at The ESPN Club. Big TV's everywhere. Lots of LSU fans are always there. Get there at least an hour early for any big games.

ETA: The ESPN Club is on The Boardwalk. When you get there, you will give your name and team. If nothing else big is scheduled for the same time as the Bama game, it will be the featured game that goes up on the big screen in the middle.

Do I need reservations or just put our name on the list before the game?

It will be 4 of us and the game will be at 8 eastern

This isn't accurate. Your check-in date has to fall in the range of the promotion. Not just any day.

I have never made reservations there so I don't know. we usually just show up, get on the list and wait to be seated.

I was about to post the same thing. Your check in day has to fall within the date range.

For those wondering, there will be other discounts offered during these dates and considering you would need a deluxe resort stay to even get the regular dining plan, there isn't much value in "free dining" this year anyway. UNLESS you already had a trip booked with a check in day already falling in the dates and wanted to DDP offered with your resort stay.

Most people will do better staying where they are with the dining plan they wanted (or no dining plan) and using whatever room only or package discount is going to be offered.

I've never been in a position to take advantage of either. But if I was, I would ALWAYS take the hotel discount over free dining.

As with everything, it all depends on your group. 4 Adults in a room who like to eat, the "free" dining plan can still be a value. However, I believe it is no longer a value to my group. When it came out, it was a very big value. Now, nope. We will be doing room discounts only for the foreseeable future.

It started out at $35/night for adult and $10/night for child. It included appetizer and 18% gratuity. And it was a single plan. It was a hell of a deal. The last time we used it was 2009. We found a much better deal with Tables in Wonderland, but that isn't available to everyone.

AP holders get 20% OFF for food correct? We were going to get our AP's this year before that little water event knocked the crap out of our house and vacation budget.

It's also available to DVC members and Florida residents I think.

I hear you. We are taking zero vacations this year. But we start off next year with a bang.

Not all places. Right now there is the 45h anniversary special going on giving AP holders 20% off at quite a few places, 10% off quite a few more and there are some places with no discount. The AP discount does not apply to alcohol like TiW.

TiW can be purchased by those with an AP and is good for 20% off almost everywhere and includes alcohol.
