Amex platinum card members can still access SkyClub, it appears.
Of course we can

Glad to see the changes the clubs are overrun with people gorging themselves on free food and snacks.
One of the big DL clubs in ATL would have lines of people bumping into each other for a free cup of soup. Delta marketing started a meeting, “you know what, maybe Thanos was right.”

My biggest complaint here is the cost as a reserve member to upgrade my membership to get others in is exorbitant by choice benefit standards. I hit almost 100 flights this year and waited at one airport (LAX) for a total of 10 mins. I have never had an issue.

Do you guys mostly visit the airline lounges/clubs during long layovers? Or do you tend to arrive at departure airports early to visit the lounges?
Depends, in the morning I definitely arrive slightly earlier to have breakfast, that is maybe 15 minutes earlier. On return flights it depends on my schedule. I fly a decent bit and even with clear and pre I still get nervous if I'm walking in the airport less than an hour before my flight. With SkyClub/Lounge access I get to wait in comfort with food/drink.

I had to wait at JFK this year for 10-15 minutes and at MSP for maybe 5. Both of these were one offs.
The B club in ATL: seems to always have a line but I just head to one in A or C and never have an issue

Speaking of Amex Platinum.
I have the platinum but my wife just has the free gold card linked to my platinum. If she is taking a trip without me can I give her my platinum that will give her access to the centurion lounge here in Houston and at her layover? Or would it not work for her since my name is on it?

Card has to match the name on the ticket. They scan both and ask for your drivers license

Damn, that sucks but what I suspected. Thanks

Also, just note that if you haven't spent $75k on the Platinum to meet the waiver, you won't be able to guest her into the Centurion Lounges starting next year.

Yep, $75k per year. If you're going to have your wife with you more than 4x in a year, it makes more sense to upgrade her to an authorized user Platinum card for $175 a year

Beginning Feb. 1, 2023, the ability to bring in two guests at no additional cost goes away for most cardholders. Unless you otherwise spend $75,000 or more each calendar year on your card, you’ll need to pay $50 to bring an adult guest ($30 for children ages 2 through 17) into the Centurion Lounge.

The ability to bring in “two” guests?
So wouldn’t I still be able to bring in just my wife if I hadn’t spend 75k in that year? Just not say a wife and kid?

Nope, right now you get 2 complimentary guests, starting on 2/1/23 it drops to 0 unless you hit the spend waiver. It's an effort to cut down on the massive crowding that the lounges are seeing.

Ok gotcha, thanks.
Those rules don’t apply to the other priority pass and delta lounges you get access to though right?

Priority Pass lounge requirements are unchanged. Delta SkyClubs have always had a fee to bring in a guest but, with the SkyClub access changes that fee is increasing from $39 to $50

Was in a delta lounge yesterday and it was a ghost town.

Outstation clubs don't seem to have the same crowding issues as some of their major hubs. It really seems to have picked up in the last few months as I've encountered lines at MSP, JFK and multiple times at ATL.
Flying through LAX twice in the next couple of weeks and interested to see the new lounge and also what sort of crowding they have around the holidays

The older club at LAX has been a ghost town since the new one opened. Admittedly the new one is nicer with an outside deck but the old one is fine for me. Never had an issue.

I thought they were planning to close the old ones in T2 with the new head club open

I’m thankful for the United Club every time I read one of these threads.
The problem with airport clubs like AmEX Centurions, Delta and Priority Pass clubs is that they’ve simply given out too many credit cards and they’re no longer “exclusive” getaways in the airport.
For the most part, I haven’t seen that over crowding in United Club.
