Last year over Labor Day weekend we did a daytrip from Denver straight to Chasm Lake trail within RMNP. Was a great hike, but didn't get to see Estes Park or any other areas of RMNP.

This trip we'll check out the valley likely hike between Leadville and Salida (while staying in BV). Looking forward to it!

Thanks for all the responses.....also, any brewery or pub advice for that area is appreciated.

Also, ended up settling for the Best Western in BV as the Surf and other more desirable accommodations were full (due to me booking late and the holiday weekend i'm guessing).

Elevation has the best beers and will have a food truck.

Eddyline is pretty good and walking distance from your hotel.

Tres Litros in Salida is decent.

I have no clue how Soulcraft stays open, it is awful beers.

You have to do a lot of research to find good, uncrowded hikes in RMNP. Those hikes are some of the best in the state, but most tourists don’t know about them.

Trying to do Sky Pond at 10am on Labor Day Saturday is pure, unadulterated pain.
