Not sure why all that was needed for my post, but ok.

It wasn't needed for your post. It was a comment directed at the entire conversation and "thoughts" directed at cruising. Your post just happened to be the one I replied to.

I was talking about both, I think you were referring to cruises like Adventurer Cruises. I haven't researched them in a long time, that one may be out of business now. Still a large ship, just not compared to the modern giant cruise ships. Ones that do like the Arctic expeditions and such.

Edit: Something this size?

Finally remembered the name, this is the unfortunate one I always think of when I hear adventure cruise.

Cozumel
Rotan
Harvest Caye, Belize
Costa Maya

I've been to Mexico three times, so nothing about the two stops there excites me, but we will make the best of it. Harvest Caye is NCL's little private beach set up, so we will just use that as our one stop to relax and hang out.

I always thought our first cruise will an eastern Caribean or even southern one leaving from PR, but this is just too easy and the timing is right.

I think when you're on a cruise ship I think it's best to either choose a ship and itinerary that fits what you want to do or embrace the culture of the ship and it's guests. Cruises are n't really designed for solitude, privacy and romance. Sure, they have all that available but there are better options if thats what you want. My advice is to embrace what the cruise offers. Let your kids go a little further and stay up a little later meeting new kids. Encourage them to try new foods. Meet other cruisers and interact with them. Different cruise lines, different itineraries, etc have a different clientele and what you may find on a Disney Caribbean Cruise is not the same as what you would find on a Viking River Cruise. Neither are trashy but both are very different in terms of what should be expected. It sounds like you have the right attitude to have a good time and enjoy yourself.

I think it's funny people get pissed about being called trashy or their activities are trashy. This board thinks everything is trashy, just DWI. Hell most of Louisiana is extremely trashy, just embrace it and enjoy life. Being trashy can make you happy and you may end up having an awesome time doing it.

Cozumel

If you've never been I recommend Paradise Beach as a day resort. Its NOT an all inclusive so it attracts less of the crowd looking for the best value (Mr. Sanchos, etc). The prices are very reasonable (like $3 to get in, another $18 for the aqua park), food was solid, service was great, beer was cold and the pool was gorgeous. Plenty of chairs, shade and fun to be had. About a ten minute cab right right from the port.

It might, but Im not trashy so I wouldnt know. Not that you care though.

ETA - Its not cruises or disney being called trashy I have a problem with as much as the reasoning and thought process behind it. More times than not it's more baseless than anything and just repeated from someone else they heard it from.

Like when people say cruises are trashy because they are a floating hotel...that makes no sense whatsoever.

Like this. Nothing fancy, few if any ports of call, functional cabins

Thanks very much for the suggestion. As it gets closer, I'm sure I will be on here looking for more ideas.
I do read the cruise critic message board, etc, but I like the simplicity of getting info from a place like this. Plus I've seen enough of your trip reports, etc that I know you will give good info.

You sure about that? I think I can review your post history and probably find something of evidence. Disney by itself alone qualifies, I can't say much cause I go often too.

Embrace the inner trash.

The second you started using TD as your standard for what is and is not trashy is the second you lost perspective.

First thread I reviewed of yours shows you dabbing. That doesn't even take TD standards to call you trashy.

Cruised out of New Orleans on Norwegian Dawn in April. Had a great time. Not "trashy" at all.

You seriously can't be this stupid....I don't know, maybe it's not stupidity.

Serious questions, do you have kids?

Roatan was my favorite stop. Hire a guy to drive you around the island.

I'll dab with my daughter, I'll line dance with her, I'll let her beat me in mini golf, I'll act like I don't expect her april fools day pranks, I'll act like I'm not santa claus or the easter bunny, I'll do one embarrassing thing after another and act like a fool with and for her because her happiness means everything to me and if some poor snowflake on TD who "doesnt care" but is obsessed with me enough to think I'm trashy because of it then that's his ignorance, not my trashiness.
