Best way/place to get Yen for trip to Japan

What is the best place to get yen for the best exchange rate?
I know credit/debit cards don't have a fee to be used in Japan. Capital One has a 3% fee plus 2 dollars for ATM.
Is it best to get yen at the airport? your bank in the states? or somewhere else in Japan?

Get a Schwab checking account.
Put money in it.
Use ATM in Japan.

Thanks! Just called and this sounds like the best way.

I keep some money at Capital One, about a week or two before I travel internationally I order foreign currency from the local branch. They deduct it from my account. It usually takes about two business days for it (the currency) to come to the same branch. Someone from the branch calls me to tell me that it has arrived.
I’d rather not have to mess with getting local currency when I land, and I can get a couple of thousand (US$) to bring with me rather than having to make multiple withdrawals of $300 US or so.
Especially in Asia after a long-arse flight.
If I have to get more local currency once I’m there, my Capital One debit card has no exchange fee on that type of transaction.
Have fun, I love visiting Japan.

I have a schwab bank account as well just to take money out of atms in foreign countries. Definitely the easiest way. All ATM fees are refunded.

Get some at your local bank, then just use ATM's.
Wait, Capital One charges that for using an ATM internationally? That seems ridiculous. My local bank doesn't even charge that much.

Unless it's dire, you should absolutely never do this anywhere
