I will be flying to Seattle from NOLA on July 13 and returning on July 19. Can you let me know if you see a good deal on a flight.

It's $306 for a roundtrip on Delta connecting in LAX on the way up/back. That's not bad for mid summer, plus now we're in the best time to book (2-3 months out) Google flights

ETA: It's also $306 on southwest if you prefer them. On the way there leaves late on the 13th, get in after midnight. On the way back, it leaves there at 4pm connecting in Vegas, don't get in until 1:30am. You can also book two one-ways, up there on delta, back on southwest or vice versa

Random question. Why is it that sometimes, when I look for a one way ticket from Nashville to Baton Rouge, a month in advance, there are flights available that cost $500? This is one-way, in economy, nothing obscure. Typically I would only search for this while trying to use points and then looked at the cost out of curiousity, but I'm curious where in the hell some of these random prices come from. Oh, and there will be flights that same day that cost $150.

Two reasons for this. One, it's the fare buckets that are available. If there's only 1 or 2 seats left in economy, they're likely in the highest economy bucket Y (usually refundable).

Second reason is that just a few weeks ago all 3 major US airlines (American, Delta, and United) changed their rules such that multi-city tickets (or multiple one-way trips) result in fares being 2 to 3 times more expensive than a roundtrip. I believe they're being investigated by the DOT for collusion as they all announced the changes on the same day in early April. It really sucks as I booked multi-city trips quite often

I will try to use UR points from Chase. I think United and SW are my best options but I do not wish to arrive after around 9PM west coast time. I will continue to look. I guess I could get a Delta card to help reduce cost. Thanks for your work.

Air fares have really not gone up much in years. I was going through some papers a few weeks ago and found a r/t ticket receipt from 1983 on Pan Am from New Orleans to Rome for $984!
