Bahamas trip - Atlantis resort questions/insight

My kids have a cheer competition in early May of 2027 that is at the Atlantis resort.
We are not required to stay on site but would like to be so we are not shuttling back and forth but open to staying off site.
Has anyone been here for these cheer competitions and which area of Atlantis would you recommend staying at?The Four Seasons and Baha Mar look like some other nice options close by if we went off location.
Concern I have read about with Atlantis is the cruise ships and people getting day passes flooding the resort area.
Thanks in advance.

Just got back from Atlantis and the Ocean Club (Four Seasons). Did 3 days at Atlantis for my daughters senior trip and 4 days at the Ocean Cub.
Atlantis was fine for what it was. Rooms were a little tired but overall it was fine. Daughter stayed in the Reef and had no complaints. Its really big and busy, just like a large Vegas hotel. I made a quick visit to the waterpark and it was the only place I felt the cruise ship crowds.
Ocean Club was awesome and very doable as they have a shuttle and house car that will transport you to Atlantis. As you can imagine, its a much different vibe than Atlantis. You have full Atlantis privileges as a guest of the hotel
I would not recommend Baha Mar as its a pretty good distance from Atlantis. You have drive through downtown Nassua to get there, which gets pretty congested when cruise ships are in port.

Geez man my daughter does cheer but Atlantis is a crazy trip for travel ball. It’s not a small place and getting around outside of Atlantis is not super easy. Depending on the competition schedule which if its anything like a normal cheer comp you wont know until a week or days out, I think it would not only be not easy but a huge pita to travel form off site. It’s been many years and we stayed at the lower end hotel or apartments outside of Atlantis that was an easy walk. That would be fine, I just wouldn’t stay across town or the island
