Hey folks,
I'll be traveling from Springhill (1 hour NE of Shreveport) for a football playoff game w/ Madison Prep tomorrow (Fri 11/15) at 7 PM.I don't get to Baton Rouge very often so I thought I'd ask for some recommendation from those who know BR.. My questions:
-Where does Madison Prep play it's football games? On Google Earth, there doesn't look to be a football stadium adjacent to the school (although the pic could be old).
-Do you have any travel tips? I'll be coming from the west on I10 or 190 at about 5 PM. A friend will be coming in from NO for the game. I've never heard anything good about BR traffic. The address for the school is: 1555 Madison Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70802
-Can someone give me some suggestions of where to eat that will be enroute to the game? I'd like a local, non-fancy, quick place to eat. Something unique to BR would be nice.

Thanks.

Most likely they play at BREC Memorial Stadium less than a mile due south of the school.
It’s right next to I-110.

May need to consider crossing the old MS River Bridge (Hwy 190) to miss traffic.
If you cross there, take 190 down to Plank Rd (Hwy 67), head south, and look for Tony’s Seafood Market less than a mile down. Great food, and if they still serve their lunch line in the evening, then you’ll have a huge selection of choices.

I’ve found out the game is at Louisiana Leadership Institute field on Hooper Rd, a little East of US 67. Would 190 still be better route?

Yes, Leadership Institute is in Northern BR/Central area so it'd be easy to come over the new bridge and shoot over to Hooper Rd.

Volt, thanks for the tip on Tony's. It was a really good taste of BR and fast, just what I was looking for. As it turns out, on the morning of the game the location for the game was changed to Istrouma. We didn't get the message so went to the address for Louisiana Leadership Institute. Strangely, using iPhone Maps and Waze, the published address for LLI took us to a subdivision, not a school. Once we got the right address, we got to the stadium w/o problems. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

Glad that you decided on Tony’s.

When I was typing my suggestion out the other night, my mouth was watering for some of their seafood. Probably a good thing I live over an hour away from there.
