How does it compare to Colorado skiing?

Sure have, used to be my spring break destination of choice. I really enjoyed Stowe (at least before it became part of the EpicPass), some challenging runs like Upper Goat but also a good variety of easy greens and blues on the left side of the trail map by the tollhouse lift. Think there's a waffle shop at the top of the gondola that's pretty good. Base camps are fine, easy walk from the parking lot to the lifts. I have had icy days, rain turned to snow days, and powder days so you can get any type of weather there, hence why we'd usually go in March/April for some spring skiing.

In comparison to Colorado, you already know that CO has much higher peaks and steeper terrain so you're usually going to get better skiing in CO than VT. But if you haven't been before and you're looking for a laid back atmosphere with good intermediate to slightly expert skiing plus a cool city nearby (Burlington), I'd recommend.

Skiing in the northeast is not nearly as good as skiing Colorado. Much less powder and less mountains.

But Stowe is awesome as a town and a wonderful place to spend time. Incredible food and beer scene.

Full disclosure- I haven't been out west to ski.

Stowe is mighty fine. The town is chill, with above average restaurants and some good Apres Ski watering holes. If you like to ski off-piste you can take a short hike off the gondola up to the top of Mt Mansfield and ski in some nice open terrain.

Skiing the East is a different beast. I grew up on it and learned how to use my edges. There can (and will) be some icy days, but the powder days are worth it. Jay Peak will always be the King of the Pow, but Stowe has a nice constant of terrain and snow.

If you go, stop in at the Matterhorn and ask at the bar if you can see the coloring book.

I have been once, I enjoyed it. It has a good mix of terrain levels, but if you like CO back bowl type skiing, there will be nothing like that. The runs off the gondola are quite nice, beautiful after a snowstorm as well. As others have said, the town is awesome, and Burlington is not too far to venture to for a day.

It is a fun mountain to ski, but nothing close to Rocky Mountain levels.

I've never been to New England. Would be cool to spend a day in Boston and head to Stowe.

I'm happy to recommend restaurants and breweries if you end up making your way to Stowe.
