Looks really cool but can’t decide on what time of day to go. First thing or about an hour before sunset.

It is definitely the most unique observation deck in NYC. It offers much more than just a great view, but also gives you a unique experience. As far as what time to go, if you want to avoid crowds then the earlier in the day the better. Sunset is a very popular time to head up to any rooftop bar or observation deck in NYC.

I got a time at 530. That way we can see day and night

You are going to have to stay about 3 hours if you want to see night. It doesn’t get dark until well after 8.

I went earlier this year. It’s definitely better at sunset and at night. It doesn’t feel as crowded as other rooftops/observation decks because people are occupied taking pictures and doing other things instead of everyone crowding at the window.
