Anguilla or Barbados - pick one

My wife (no pics) and I take a Caribbean trip every year and we’ve been able to check off some amazing islands - Antigua, USVI’s, BVI’s, Grand Cayman, Aruba, St. Lucia and the Exumas are some we’ve visited recently. So now we are looking to add a new spot to our list.
We are researching Anguilla and Barbados for a 2023 trip. Hoping COVID restrictions are behind us by then so not looking for that type of info.
But I greatly appreciate Any info you can share on either, especially when it comes to the beaches, activities, and bar/restaurant scene, and how they compare to maybe some of the other islands above. TIA!

If COVID restrictions are eased up I loved Barbados.

If you are going for scenic beauty, do Anguilla. If you are going for culture, do Barbados.

Going to disagree. I’d say Barbados is the prettier island. Anguilla is flat. They both have beautiful beaches.

I've only been to Barbados. My wife and I would go back. The scenery, beaches, nightlife were great. My brother and his wife loved Anguilla. It is harder to get to Anguilla than Barbados. For the ease of getting there and my own experience I say Barbados.

Is it harder? I’d think flights to St. Maarten are common there. Then it’s a taxi ride and a short ferry ride.

Look up Scott Hapgood before going to Anguilla. He defended himself and his daughters while being attacked by a hotel worker with a knife who was also high. The people of Anguilla are trying to lynch him and the Courts are corrupt. The police there hid evidence the attacker had raped a former girlfriend the week prior and that he had multiple substances in his body at autopsy. I wouldn’t set foot on Anguilla as an American now. You are not safe.

I was told that by my brother. I have no first hand knowledge of how to get to Anguilla except I did look it up. It is more work than flying directly to Barbados. You are obviously well traveled. I respect your opinions

All good. Either way you need a taxi from the airport. Both islands are great choices. Elvis' Beach Bar at Sandy Ground on Anguilla is one of my favorite spots.

I’ve never visited Barbados so I can’t speak to the travel there but I’ve been to Anguilla. Absolutely loved our trip. We spent 8 days on the island.
With travel to Anguilla on thing I didn’t realize was that St. Martin and Anguilla are owned by different countries. You have to go through customs in St. Martin and again before you get on the ferry ride to Anguilla. Obviously you have to do it again on the way back. That’s probably what the bother was talking about.
