on 2/23/21 at 5:47 pm

Allegiant Airlines had already announced direct service between Shreveport and LAX will start in June. It originally was scheduled to end the first week of August. Today, Allegiant extended the service to November. The flights are every Monday & Friday.
Direct flight for the LSU vs ULCA game!!!

I flew Allegiant out of Shreveport once. I swore I'd never do it again. In 2011, I flew on a Boeing 727. Had to wait 2 hours for checked luggage once we arrived in Vegas. It was the worst experience that I've ever had flying.

Allegiant has never owned B727s. It was an MD80, which is a similar cabin. They now run newer A320 aircraft. The seats don't recline however and that's a long flight to sit upright.

HARD PASS.
AMR is probably like $350 with a layover in DFW, which allows you to have lunch.
Allegiant advertises $99 fares (one way) and probably has some hidden fees, so at best you are saving $100. No reclining seats, no movies/tv screens, etc.
And I think it's like 1-2 flights/week where AMR or Delta will give you multiple options per day.
Also no frequent flyer program of real stature (I'm sure they have Allegiant Bucks or something like that, maybe code-share with Schrute Bucks) so you can't build up miles for much purpose.
