I did a 7 day Alaska cruise (rt from Seattle) and it was amazing, more enjoyable than a Caribbean or Mexican cruise.
It is definitely an older crowd, and not ideal if you are interested in partying.

How are the biking trails in Anchorage? We are thinking of going to Alyeska resort and downhill mountain biking. Afraid that might be too venturesome.

Lots of biking trails in anchorage/eagle river. Flattop is a nice ride overlooking the city. If you prefer less elevation, the coastal trail is nice. Alyeska probably is more hardcore

Ja, that bike rental at Alyeska includes full helmet, shoulder pads, shin pads. That's just screams hardcore

Girdwood is a cool little town. If you get extra time it makes a nice little half a day. Seward, Homer, Talkeetna are also really cool towns to spend time. Seward and Homer are coastal.

I guess I should've searched before starting a thread but hopefully I get some more info.
I found a 7 night cruise perfect dates for when my wife and I will be in Seattle anyway. I don't know anything about cruise lines so that's good to hear you liked Celebrity. Are they considered first class or whatever label you'd use? We're mid 30's/early 40's.

What are you wanting to see?
What should someone going to Alaska first time want to see? We figure the cruise gives us lots of exposure to places but we didn't think about excursions off the boat. Looking for suggestions.

Depends on ports and time in port, money and interests.

This is the itinerary for the one I found so far

Interests are many, I think I'd like to do some fishing possibly. We like scenery, history, fun things to do. We're down for what would make this something unforgettable. Money isn't an issue (not to sound like that, but if we want to do it we can).
I'm open to other cruise lines it just happens that this one pulled up perfect with dates. We're going to a concert on June 24th so cruising from 16th-23rd works perfect. We could also leave the 25th/26th for a week.

Go fishing in Ketchikan
Take a heli tour of the icefield in juneau. You can dogsled up there, ice clump or just sightsee. If you don't want to fly, take a guided hike to the ice caves. Whale watching if you have time
SkGway, do the railroad excursion to the Canadian border. If you like history you'll love Skagway. Read "The White Pass" before you go. Excellent book

Will look into all this. Any thoughts on Celebrity as a cruise line?

Celebrity is a quality line. I've known people who work for them and they hire excellent staff.

Roger any other ideas in Ketchikan? The wife is not musch of a fisherman...
In Juneau we are flying to Taku Lodge and having a salmon feast (12:00-4:30pm). We looked at taking a shuttle to Mendenhall Glacier and hiking a little since the boat doesn't leave until 9:00pm. I just don't know if we have enough time?
Lastly in skagaway we are doing the White Pass Railway but any other suggestions will be welcomed.
Thanks so much for you input

Nothing really unique in Ketchikan that you can't do elsewhere. About the only unique things there are the flights eyeing and totem bight. Maybe a jeep tour. You'll have better flights eyeing going to the Taku Lodge (great choice)
In Skagway, going to Dyea is kind of cool. Used to be a boomtown. Not many ruins left but the snows like cemetery is pretty cool and brown bears eat in the tidal areas. If not, walk around town.. Go to the old cemetery and Reid Falls, and then walk out to Yakutania Point or hike up to Dewey Lakes.
In Juneau, whale watching if you have time. If you don't have much time, take the tram up mount Robert's and hike up to the Alpine Meadows.
