4 days in Montreal in July

We’re going to Montreal for 4 days in July as a mini-tour of Canada while my stepson is at a hockey camp north of Toronto. Any recommendations on restaurants, bars, sight seeing, etc? I’ve been, but it was way back in 2009 when I was young and dumb and did nothing but party on St Laurent Blvd.

Joe Beef

Every meal we had was excellent.

We really enjoyed meals at Fleurs et Cadeaux and Le Majestique. Brasseire Dieu du Ciel for beer. Atwater Market. Atwater Cocktail in the area for cocktails. Le Vin Papillon as an alternative to Joe Beef.
You can really just walk around and pretty much eat and drink anywhere and it'll be good. Rent the public bikes. Hit up the pedestrianized streets in the summer.
Bota Bota if you're into spas.

You've already got some excellent recs. I went for a 4 days last fall and Fleurs et Cadeaux was the first place we ate and probably the best overall experience. L'Express was also awesome - very much a quintessential French bistro type feel.
Schwartz' Deli is very popular with the tourists - if the line is wrapped around the block I'd say just move on. It's nothing life changing by any means.
One additional place I liked and would suggest is Bouillon Albert, it was fantastic.
If you do any fine dining, I heard Joe Beef is great but couldn't snag a reservation. I went to a place called Cabaret L'Enfer and it sucked - avoid!

If you're staying in a hotel downtown, NYKS was a great spot for poutine and great bar vibes.

Try doing a day trip up to Quebec City, its a long drive but I thought it was much better than montreal. Plus its the summer, so you'll have plenty of daylight.

I will add Jean Talon Market. Excellent farmers market and the best mixed dozen oysters we have ever had at the oyster stall.
Toque! Was also excellent. We had a 4 year old, so we just went for lunch, which was a very good deal imo.
