“I wish I had 2 upvotes for this“
If you’re on iPhone and using Chrome, you do.... Double arrow tap quickly. Not sure about other phones/browsers.
Nice rig.

Tested on android/chrome, and I couldn't do it. But I'm pretty sure that even if iphone shows two upvotes, only one will "stick" after a page refresh.

I don’t know a whole lot about PCs but that’s sweet setup.

what are the newer Cases coming out? i need something that can hold a good bit of HDDS. and 2 big 1080tis?
I still have that old Dell server if you want it. Has 8 hot swap bays and sounds like a prop plane, especially when you first fire it up.

Are you using HDDs or SSDs? If you're using HDDs.. why? Just curious.
My case, the one in the image, has 5 places to mount 2.5" drives. And yes, you could fit 2 1080tis in it.

I ordered most parts through Amazon. Ordered CPU and MB from NewEgg. The prices were comparable, Amazon had like 2 parts that were cheaper. But I ordered from Amazon pretty much for the 2 day shipping.
Monitors:
2x Asus MX279H 27-inch (these are like 4 years old)
1x Dell UltraSharp U2719D (got this one earlier this year)

3 different ones and it's bugging the shite out of me
Two different ones.
My center (main) monitor is 1440p, the other two are 1080p and they are the exact same monitor.

I would have to buy everything but haven't built one since my gateway days. All these "HD or 4K" monitor business.
I have a 4K monitor at work and I'm guaranteeing you, unless it's like 36"+ monitor, you won't use it at 4K resolution. A 4K 27" monitor is useless unless you're a gamer, imo. It's way too hard on the eyes. 27" 1440p is pushing it for some things. But I love my 1440p monitor. It's perfect for what I do - just wish the price would come down on them.

Better space per dollar. In most instances you won't see a major difference in times when accessing files using a 7200rpm HDD vs a SSD.
I'd rather have a bunch of space for files in a HDD and just the main programs and the OS on the SSD for price efficiency.

Gotcha. You must require a ton of space?
ETA: There are still plenty cases out there that will house 5 or 6 HDDs. You'll probably want to get a full tower though, since you're throwing in 2 1080tis.

Makes sense. Check out this case. I really liked it and was going to get it but it's super heavy, like 42 lbs bare. I wouldn't have been able to sit on top of my glass-top desk.

It appears to come with 4 drive bays, but I'm sure you can expand that.

in my build, I dont care to light up a closet

Posted on 5/15/19 at 2:43 pm to bluebarracuda

do you have your closet ventilated? if so how?
I had my server in my hall A/V closet and left the door cracked because it would get warm as the PS4 and amp would keep it heated. I thought about getting a vented door and putting a fan sucking or pushing air but never did. not i dont play PS much any more but i dont want to stick the server back in there.
