Suddenly, my XM radio's signal reception has gone to crap. I have had it for about 10 years and can count on one hand the number of times that I have lost signal when it had a clear view of the sky.

Now, the thing is losing signal once or so every couple of minutes...to the point, that I don't want to listen to it any more.

Is there something that commonly goes wrong with these after a few years of service? I am wondering if there is an antenna or wiring problem or something like that which I could fix.

Is it a factory OEM installed antenna? I have had the same non factory XM antenna for at least 12 years with no problems.

Yes, the radio and antenna came with the truck when I bought it new. It has all worked flawlessly for over 10 years...that is what is so puzzling to me.

Bad component or solder joint in the radio or maybe a loose antenna to radio connection?

Same problem, tends to lose signal quite a bit lately and I've never had this issue. Yes, why has the signal in Prairieville gone to shite?

It could be interference from the cell networks. The WCS band is shared with cell and Sirius.

I've been noticing this too over the past couple of months. I always attributed to losing my signal when I'm driving in the mountains but I noticed it lately on the flatlands too.

I'd be interested to see if someone in the business opines..

I read something a while back, maybe on here, about how in certain areas it isn't actually SAT signal, but coming from repeaters on the ground. Maybe something switched in your area.
