10 year old son, is it worth waiting on Xbox series X or save $ for Xbox One?

Would this be his 1st console?

If so, and you want to save money go with the XB1.

If he's an avid gamer, you'd want to consider the extra cash for the Series X.

Honestly if you could find the series S it’s probably the perfect choice. Would really need to know the tv that will be used to say.

I've been looking for one for my son. He already has a gaming pc, but has some friends who have xbox one's already so am going to just get him a 2nd hand one. I would purchase the new xbox model S but you can't find them anywhere except from scammers.

To make it even more weird, xbox One has 3 different models. The regular xbox 1, xbox 1s, xbox 1x. Apparently they improved the video output and I guess streamlined the case, etc.

FWIW, I'm just going to get him either the 1s or 1x depending on which I can find cheaply locally and if they have some disc games. Don't fall for anyone selling you a HDD or loaded games, they won't work after they logout and make another xbox their home. At least that's from my understanding.

I would go Series S ($300) or Series X ($500). S doesn’t have the same hardware as Series X, but games will be optimized for it for the foreseeable future. I know Xbox has said they plan to continue support for the One models, but I just can’t see that happening for this entire console generation given how fast tech is going right now. You’re better off dropping a little extra cash now so he’s not asking for a new gen console in 2 years.
