So is it a true AP solution w/o having to be hard wired or is it similar to extenders with a unique SSID at each AP location?

Interesting. I'll have to research this more.

I've tried an ASUS repeater LINK and a directional antenna LINK for one of my 3 connectors on router.

The repeater is terrible because it loses connectivity all the time. Plus it's a hassle having to connect to 2 different networks.

The antenna helped but it's barely noticeable.
