When my wife calls my son he can hear her, she can't hear him and vice versa. It only happens with the two of them. He has an s23 ultra and she has a z fold 5.
Any ideas?

Try turning off Wi-Fi calling.
Try turning off and turning on the phone.
Bluetooth issues?
Mute settings?

First thing I was going to suggest.
When my phone occasionally acts goofy or has a weak cell signal, I have also had success by simply by turning airplane mode on and off. It sends it looking for new radio signals which often helps.

I friggin love the animosity between apple and android. It never fails to make me giggle. The amount of trolling both sides do to each other is so 1st world shite - I love it!

Have they tried to reproduce the problem without the phones? I suspect a psychological problem rather than a technical one. Same problem in my household. Sometimes a third party mediator is required.

The old IT Support remedy #1. "Re-boot!"

I'm thinking it's also some kind of bluetooth issue. I don't know what the situation is, but I've noticed weird behavior when someone doesn't "forget" a device like earbuds, car infotainment system, etc.
But yeah, I'd always try the "easy" things first.
