tarred and feathered. It can be convenient and helpful in some instances I'm sure, but for me a royal pain in the arse. There's always someone in my group that I never intended to join that has a Android and/or outdated ios software that grays out my option in settings to opt out. So end up for weeks at a time getting daily pings for a new text between two or people chatting among themselves about nothing.

You can't just turn off alerts for that one group text? I'm a pixel master race, so I don't have that problem. I just mute the conversation and never think of it again.

Update, I just found out how to turn off the alerts like you suggest, thanks, have been using iphone for years, lol. I still get the texts, just no alert, good compromise and can easily delete them.

I think you can only leave if there's 3+ people. These two guys at work a while back added me to one (making 3 total), so I just invited some other random dude from work so I could leave it

Oh yea. I turn off alerts on all group texts. I’ll check them at my earliest convenience.

Pretty much all of my group texts with family I had to turn notifications off. Last year I was in a meeting at work and one of my sisters sent something to several of us. Other sister, Dad, Cousin, and a few others replied back. Like 25 notifications within a couple of minutes. Quickly learned how to mute that.
