Which iPhone to buy in December '21? and Where from?

Plan on biting the bullet today and buying a new phone.
My old iPhone 7 has been rehabbed enough.
I asked my daughter what to consider and she just mentioned that some people don't like how the 3 lenses protrude from the back of the latest version. Suggestions?
And the last several years, I've just bought phones from AT&T at their local store, for convenience, and it's via my business account. Is there a markedly easier/less expensive way than this?
Suggestions welcome!
ETA: In whatever version, I usually choose the smaller size. My days are very mobile and just prefer less in my pocket or hand.

12 regular. It's cheaper than the 13 and it's not that different.
If you insist on the really small old school iPhone, the SE is cheap as shite and is a good phone. Got my kid one for Xmas.
I go through Apple online always. It's easy and they ship next day. Can get it through your provider easily and it ships set up already.
I ordered my 12 through my AT&T account and my son's SE unlocked and his Mom just added to her account. Either way is simple through Apple.
