My wifes PC is finally crapping out after 10 yrs, so I decided to build her one that would be technology safe for another 10yrs.

Have everything i need ordered and am looking for at least an 8gb gpu.

any recommendations on best places to look or anyone have a "source"?

Thanks

You can either:

A) Follow the instructions in this thread.

B) Get a last-gen card from EVGA B-stock

C) Overpay for one on eBay

Because this is on the tech board, I assume she needs this for work. What kind of work is she doing?

she does projects for school(teacher), it's not super graphics intensive, but just looking to future proof for anything she may need...word is the school is looking at some VR setup and she will use the home PC setup to familiarize herself.

If you’re looking to build now, I would buy a 5700g integrated gpu and add a discrete gpu when things clear up. I wouldn’t kill myself getting a discrete gpu in this market right now when it sounds like she isn’t in a position to actually need it.

you're better off getting a prebuilt. and if she wants to get familiar with VR, you might want to get a good GPU to go with it. the Asus ROG with an RTX 3070 is perfect.

you're paying the "extra" to get it NOW. it would be better to get this than sit at a computer or your phone all day watching twitter notifications for GPU drops because that's exactly what you're going to be doing unless you want to pay ungodly prices for it.

or, you can pay the same price for this GPU (AMD's top rated GPU). Powercolor is okay. not a good as others, but it's a budget card you can get now instead of later.

if i were you though, i'd cancel whatever i've already ordered and just get the ASUS prebuilt with the RTX 3070.

There is a 3060 ti in a bundle on antonline.com, in stock right now. I just go a dif bundle a few days ago. Got it today but haven't had time to open the box. Luckily I did have a use for the spare power supply & keyboard/mouse. Scalpers price for a 3060ti.... but if you have a use for the rest of the bundle its worth it.

Yeah, at online is definitely another option if you can use the other components in the bundle.

This is what I did, except I got the 5600g. All components came in at just over $1,000 with tax. I will add a you in a year or two.
