Will only use by it for backing up phone to iTunes and uploading pictures. Storage not an issue because I’ll use thumb drives.
I just need to get these 4,000 pics off my phone and back it up. Our current laptop is crap and outdated.

Why not use google drive or icloud?

I guess I’m old school. I won’t something tangible that I can always have in my possession. Plus I’ll need to back up my phone and don’t know how to do that without iTunes.

I predominantly use www.deluxepcs.com
Ive ordered 15 computers from them over last few years. Cheap and great.

I get where you’re coming from but I think the odds of a local hard drive failing you are way higher than a cloud backup from one of the major providers failing you. Ideally you have both, but betting on yourself in this situation is betting on the wrong horse.
Also, it doesn’t sound like you actually want a laptop, just a local backup solution. WD makes a personal cloud drive that’s an external hard drive that connects to your Wi-Fi. I would imagine other drive makers offer similar products.
