I’m assuming some version of Office and Adobe so I can convert Word docs to PDFs and vice versa. Is there a cheaper or simpler way? TIA

What are you looking to do? If it’s just sign PDFs or export PDFs Mac can handle that by default with preview (for free) Even simple text markup is supported. If you are looking for something more robust, I’ve seen acrobat pro for Macs,

You can also right click the file and choose open with word to edit the PDF in word

PDF Pen is a decent app. Trial it first.

I just use the "print" option and then select "save as PDF". No adobe needed. If you do not have Office for Mac on the Mac then just use pages. It will open Word files and then you can save them as PDFs and use the built in "preview" on the MAC to add signatures and text boxes ect. to the PDF

Power pdf Advanced is a great product with a pay once perpetual license.
BTW, for basic conversions you don’t need a pdf editor. Word can do it already. You need an editor if you need OCR to convert scanned PDFs or if you need real redaction tools, to create auto-fill forms, to scrub meta data, or things like that. If you work with documents in your business in any serious manner, you need a pdf editor. If you only need to view and do basic conversations, you don’t.
