Yeah.... I’ve never been one to buy and return TVs but it’s nice knowing that is an option
I do actually have a 50” 4 series TCL Roku on my back porch now and I’m very happy with it brightness wise. The 65” install is at a different location (for inlaws) If the Vizio m series does not work well, I’ll probably give the 5 series a try

I'm looking for a new TV in this range as well. TCL seems to be the TV of choice.

Op I honestly wouldn’t get the ‘best’ personally, not the best at 50” nor $500. It would be one thing if you said what’s the best 70” or $2000 tv. But tv’s are so cheap right now and the tech is evolving so fast id just buy a fairly cheap one.
The most important thing with cheaper tv’s is to check their inputs. Some super cheap ones only have 1 hdmi but most have at least 2 and as said things like a coax hook up and what not may not be included. If it’s your main tv it’s nice to have 4 hdmi inputs imo.
