What are good desktop texting alternatives to Mighty Text?

this month MT cut the max free texts to 250/month and it's all but worthless now

anybody use desktop texting apps? anybody got a lead on an alternative?

I think some people use Hangouts. I think Airdroid is similar.

If you are Verizon customer, check out Verizon's Messages+ desktop app. Kinda barebones but it works well.

Pushbullet. I use it all day at work. Nothing compares IMO

i tried some other "push" chrome extension and it crashed my chrome

i'm using my sms and it's pretty solid

I switched from mysms to mightytext because mysms would quit receiving texts after every update and I wanted a passive app anyway. Luckily I don't text much so I've never hit the 250/month limit with mightytext.

ETA:

Other than the update issue I liked mysms but still prefered a piggyback app so I could use the native messaging app.
