Need some advise. My 8 year old niece wants one. Do they have to use a iPhone? Any suggestions on which one is good for an 8 yo? Trying to get it for Christmas. Thanks for any help.

If you aren’t getting at the very least an Oculus Quest or a PlayStation VR, don’t bother. The cheap ones that use phones are garbage and not what your niece wants.

I don’t think the oculus Go needs a phone. Does anyone know anything about the GO? My daughter wants one too.

The go is pretty underpowered. It’s not very good for anything other than media watching.

I have a Go. It’s fine for simple games.

My 6 year old plays with it all the time. And it’s cheap.

Thanks! I’m just looking for something to satisfy her request for Christmas. Not looking to spend 400 plus on a complicated possibly nauseating experience. She’ll enjoy walking around and looking at stuff. The most complicated video game she currently plays is Minecraft.

I heard the headsets can get pretty sticky too.

Lol, VR porn is weird for me. It’s a bit too much.

Is the quest considered a higher end headset? I know nothing about VR but I kind of want to get one. And $400 seems like a pretty good deal. I figured they would be much more expensive than that

Linus Tech Tips has a pretty good review.

No, it's a beginner headset. It's the best standalone, but high end headsets are gonna be connected to a computer, can be wireless with the Vive wireless system, but still running through a PC. Quest can do full rift stuff and run steam games through Quest link, but it's not in the same league as other headsets even with Quest link.

High end are gonna be Index and Vive Pro, would guess the high end Pimax and some of the other extreme ones designed for corporate use. Middle of the road will be Vive and Rift/Rift S.

At home, I will most likely use my Index. On the road, Quest is so much easier to pack and run through a decent laptop. I don't play standalone much on the quest because the games are limited and graphics suffer bad.
