VPN for faster gaming speeds with ATT ?

I usually use hotspot with ATT from my phone to play GTA 5 online. I know att is restrictive but wonder if a VPN could maybe help me get better ping and maybe slightly better speeds ?
Looking online it's seems like they might. None of them say from att hotspot so idk if I am just stuck with what I have. Probably going to switch to a VPN anyways when my bt guard. runs out since they are like the same price. Would get a VPN alot sooner if it would help.

VPN tends to slow down a normal, unencrypted connection. Are you in a rural area with minimal internet options?

If you get 100 down and the VPN you connect to is 1000 down, you, will still only get 100 down...

I'm up and down the Mississippi river and other places for work (on tug boats) and don't have Wi-Fi. If we get some stby time or just when I'm off watch I'll play some.
I seen some that say faster speeds or ping and was thinking like y'all said I'm still limited to what att is giving me. Verizon is the only other option out here or you won't have service alot. Att has slightly better service then Verizon on the river but not by much. For the most part if I'm in a good service area I don't have lag or very little. Would of liked a small boat if possible.
Besides just being in a area with lack of service my biggest problem is modders in GTA. Sometimes they just make the whole room lag with their BS. Some of them are good and don't mess up the room. Some are better and I will have naked strippers waiting to go in my club lol.

A VPN simply adds an additional layer to your networking, which can only slow things down, not speed them up. If you don’t have better internet options, I would be inclined to kill Bitdefender and see if that helps any.

Sorry,BT Guard. Edited original post. I only use that for downloading torrents and the speed on that doesn't matter much.
