Using drones for Real Estate/Property filming

Any of you guys have experience in this side of real estate. Thinking about doing it on the side, just going to real estate companies with a brochure of services and giving homeowners/real estate companies the option to have a drone video of the outside of the property to give a better view of the overall layout of the property and surrounding properties.
My brolaw is a real estate agent out of San Antonio, dealing with ranches about 25% of the time and has a buddy that has done videos of the ranch property. I understand the vastness of ranches might correlate well with drone videos over smaller plots, but I just wanted to see what the tech board thought.
I don't have a big paying full-time job, I was probably going to start with the Parrot Bebop 2 and use their Flight Plan app for the videos and then use video editing software for just simple cuts/splices etc.

Our company thought about doing this. Not sure how much effort we actually dedicated to it. Would be interesting to know how it goes though.
How are the cameras on those? Do they film in 1080 or 4k? I've only used DJI Phantoms.

It seems like I can come in and do it as a third-party, so the company doesn't have to designate training and time for their agents to learn how to properly do the filming, editing etc.

Filming at 1080p/30fps, pictures at 4k. They rave online about the electronic stabilization for the gimbal, supposed to be top notch.
I can alsa get the FPV goggles and controller with 1.24 mi range and hook up for video of what I'm filming on those bigger lots/hunting properties for $450 total with drone.
Supposedly, the Parrot Skycontroller is one of the best controllers out there. Has a massive antenna on it.

Definitely don't forget to get licensed.
If you need help with studying I can send you over some of the resources I used to take the test.

I managed the push for this and my old firm before i left and there is way more to this than one would think. right how this is the new "im going to buy a DSLR camera and be a photographer."
There are many levels of "drones" your consumer drones (phantoms, mavics, bebops, etc) have an price around 300-1000+ or up to 3k-7k based on the camera. With these you cant do much more than just take pictures and videos. you can do some 3d scanning but it isnt very accurate. But it is cool on what you could do.
Id you want to get into more of the lidar, surveying, and the such you are looking at a minimum 20k investment in a drone and others upward of 100k.

Make sure you get licensed.
Ya I was just perusing some of the websites about drone flying in general and they mentioned you have to be registered with the FAA now so definitely will be doing that if I make the move on this.
But ya Lazy would definitely appreciate study material for the licensing if you don't mind...jmangelo1989@gmail.com

It good to see some pressure for this new type of real estate advertisement, which makes me definitely see some opportunity. Honestly just trying to find a way to start making some real money in my off time or even as a full-time job. Went back to school for my Master's to work in the oil field and can't get a job to save my life right now. Just trying to find something to possibly start my life in the right direction, getting to old to not have a real career.

quote:I wish you luck, just understand that it is more then taking a drone out and flying it. You can tell someone who bought a drone and just took it out to make a video without any skill verse someone who is a video editor and gets footage from a drone.

When i dabbled in it i say 60-70 % of the time was on the computer editing your stuff. The free video editing software comes off as cheap and amateur in the final product.
So when we were looking at it the initial start up costs were extreme when you have to bill time for the prep, the flight, and the post processing.

This is really what I was concerned about, I don't have a lot of experience in editing. I have a coworker that is and I was hoping to get a little more insight from him on practice of editing and programs to use.

when i made my very first move, with no experience in editing only learning from youtube videos, It took me a good 6-8 hours to make a 5 mins video. Most of that was learning the software and after that i could have made the same video in 2-3 hours. Granted i have a idea of how i wanted that particular video and i was a little OCD making it perfect.
None of it was drone footage though.

Thanks for the extra info ram rod, I thought it would be a little more involved I just didn't know how much on the editing side.
Being that you tried pushing this before, if you have any other advice that caused yall not to go through with it let me know. Gotta work on a delivery if I'm gonna bring this to agencies.

is that Sony? might have been it. i downloaded an illegal copy since that was for personal use. This was like 4 years ago.
Well that company was using it in a very limited fashion. IDK if they continued a more in depth push once i left. But like i said, with drones that are feasible to buy, you really can only do marketing type photos/videos. There is a market for other things like lidar, infrered, etc. But to jump into that market is is 30k-100k investment right off the bat.
When you are billing engineers rates to go fly a drone it gets expensive. But a one man shop i believe could make some money if you could get more than just a handful of houses/jobs
