I have an old 50" TLC TV, manufactured June 2014. It's a flat panel, but still weighs like 60lbs or something. Not a smart TV, but does have HDMI ports. Specs online say it's a 1080p 120hz, but I am not sure about that for that age.

Anyone tried to use something like for a computer monitor? I doubt the resolution is very good, and I don't want to lug a 7 year old TV to my office if that sounds like a terrible idea, just wondered if anyone had done that, and how it worked out? A 50" screen sounds good, but if the quality/resolution is terrible, then I won't fool with it.

It will probably work just fine as long as you aren't gaming

That depends on what you plan to use it for. If you just use it to watch videos from several feet away or keep an eye on something, it should be fine. If you put it on your desk and plan to read text on it, you're not going to like it.

I had an older 32" I tried this on. I ended up just getting another monitor as the resolution wasn't working well.

I use a 40" like that as an extended (secondary) monitor and have been extremely happy... use for video use mainly. However as said wouldn't want it for my primary or only monitor. Also really nice to throw sheet music on so everyone's on the same page.... think PDF's, bitmaps, and JPG's.

I played with it some and it's not as crisp as newer monitors, and I didn't like the resolution, so I am just going to sell it and save the money for better monitors.

Yeah it's 1080 pixels on a 50" screen, which works out to only 44 pixels per inch. You want something like 100 ppi or more for a computer screen at typical viewing distance.
