Does it matter which one I get or which brand?
I ran out of my USB ports on my PC.
The only thing that is required is at least a 1 foot length cable.

USB or USB C?
Since USC is a universal standard, I don't think it matters too much. Just get the fastest reasonably priced port that works with your computers protocol. Plug it into the fastest USB port on your machine as the throughput to the other ports will limited to the max speed of that port.

What all are you plugging in? You might need a hub, but there may be a better solution.
