I cut the cord today. Too many fees and price increases with Cox. The new "regional sports fee" they are about to start charging was the last straw.
I've been using DirectTV Now for the last 5 days and it has worked pretty well. I didn't even have problems during the Clemson-Alabama game. Since my cellular provider is AT&T I can watch on my iPhone as much as I like w/o it counting against my data limit, but I've mostly been watching on my computer. For now, the tv is just being used for local channels but I'll probably get an Amazon Fire Stick or something.
Bye bye, Cox Cable!

Thanks to the folks in this thread. Cut the cord a couple weeks ago and it's been great.
Went with the Winegard flatwave amped indoor antenna. Very pleased with the results. Lots of local channels and they're crystal clear. My mind has been blown after i got Kodi on the firestick - the youtube tutorials for all of that make it really easy.

On board. Finally done with my contract with cox. Can't wait to return their gear.
A few questions.
So I will be using cox for internet. Should I buy my own router? I've had issues with Cox's. Just seems like a terrible product.
I want to use Plex and Vue. What's the best interface for these apps? Looking between Roku and fire stick.
Do they both support Kodi?
Has anyone hooked up and antenna to the existing coax in the their attic? I have 3 TVs that already have cable run.
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Exactly what I did. Used the existing line already run in my attic. Disconnected the line that was run to my office where my Tablo Box is and connected that line to the HD Antenna I mounted up there. I bet I want in the attic 20 minutes.

Not sure what antenna he used but I'm just chiming in to say you will probably need an signal amplifier. The more splitters and footage of coax you have to send signal through the more signal loss you will have.

Which HD antenna did you use?
Winegard HD7694P High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna
second to last post on the previous page is what setup I have.

I lucked up here. My antenna sits about 5' from where the cable runs out the top plate in the attic. So I have a total of about 15' of line to the Tablo from Antenna so a signal amplifier is not needed. From there I stream my local channels to all my Tv's via wifi.

I'm really considering doing this. Tired of my $180 cable bill. I have the 50m...thing via Cox Internet which works fine. May need to upgrade my modem.
My question is this...I get free unlimited data via AT$T because i have DTV. Will DTVNoww count towards that?
Tried PSV and like it because of the dvr but AT$T has me by the balls with unlimited data deal because i have 2 kids (including a teenage girl who only watches makeup videos all day on her phone).
Looking into getting a DVR type device I read about on here.

If you stream DTVN from your phone then no, your data will come from att and not cox.

The Tablo has been great for local programming. I have recorded various random shows the last couple weeks and so far its been flawless. DTVN is supposed to release an OTV DVR sometime this year. IMO thats about the only thing this service is lacking.

Thanks for the reply but what I meant by free unlimited data is that I took advantage of a bundle deal with AT$T since I already had DTV. Will DTVNow let me keep the same deal on my wireless unlimited data plan?

Thats a deal breaker. Freak me

How many people are in your house?
Posted on 1/19/17 at 8:50 am to VermilionTiger
I have 4 total. Myself, wife and 2 teenage kids

I'm just going to cut out most boxes ($6) per box in my house and cut programming ($74-$50). I have a fire stick with Kodi in living room, apple Tv in daughter and 2 chromecast my bedroom and office.

You might be fine with the data cap if it's 4. If you and your wife are watching the same shite half the time, I'm confident you'll be okay.

I hooked up my HD antenna and it only picks up channels starting with 27. Is there anything I need to do to get channel 2 WBRZ and channel 9 WAFB? I ran the auto program but these are not showing up. I might be missing more as well?
