Ok gurus I need some help here. I’ve been out of the game for a while and I’ve lost track of all of the new types of tvs and whatnot.

$1500 budget on tv for a 65”. What do y’all recommend? Would like a 4K for sure

No idea on a surround sound system. Never really got into that to much outside of a $200 sound bar once. No clue where to even start on that end

You can get a nice 75 for 1500 so if you really want the 65 you can find one cheaper and drop the money in speakers and receiver. 65 oleds are dropping close to that price point if your patient

They’re basically all 4K now unless you’re looking at 40” or smaller. Keep in mind that to watch in 4K it has to be 4K content such as blu Ray, shows on netlflix, amazon, or movies from iTunes, Vudu, etc.

I recommend going to rtings.com and check out the reviews for TVs in your price range and size

Is the playbar worth the extra money over the beam?

That's not surround sound unless he gets the 5.1 version in which case he's overspending by a country mile for cost vs. performance.

Would need to know what kind of budget is available for the sound system to offer any advice.

That being said, I will offer this advice. If I was to be jumping in and could afford ~$1.5k for sound, this would be my choice hands down for a "starter" system that will destroy systems twice this price.

SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 System

This AVR and you are in effing BUSINESS. These Denon's are nice because they work with alexa to change inputs, stream music, turn on/off, volume up/down...

Denon x3400

I keep it simple and always tell people "get the next size up from the TV you were considering"...also "no one have ever uttered the words...I wish my TV was smaller"

I am a svs and denon fan. And a sonos fan. So I’d approve both those options.

Get the biggest tv that will fit.
