Trying to connect iPhone to Yamaha receiver

I have a Yamaha RX-A870 receiver which supposedly has AirPlay. I cannot figure out how to connect my iPhone to it. Whenever I click on the airplay icon it always says searching for Apple TV but never finds my receiver. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Do you have your receiver and phone connected to the same wireless network?
