Thoughts on this TV?

Have any of you purchased this tv from Sam's Club? The price point is pretty attractive for it being a 75" 4K tv. I have been looking for a large tv like this with a more affordable price point for my bonus room, which I plan to make a home theater. I'm interested in y'all's thoughts on it. I've been out of the tv tech game for several years. Another thing that has my interest is the $99 Square Trade warranty for 4 years (5 years for Sam's Plus members).

If you're going to spend that type of money for a good home theater, I would go with Sony. They run the tv companies and own all of their own tech.
For virtually the same price, I would decide between these 2.

The tv you mentioned doesn't have HDR and a later model I think. It will be a night and day difference with HDR in a theater room. These tv's will be best with sports/movies.

I can't see the price but it is a 2015 model that lacks many features like HDR. Not the best TV for home theater.

Does that Sony tv for $2,500 have HDR?

Yes, and the Android smart TV is the best on the market

Thanks for your advice and recommendations. I was literally seconds away from picking up the Samsung tv that I originally asked about before checking here for responses to my post. After reading the responses, I went to Best Buy and purchased the Sony XBR X850D Series 75" Class. So far, I'm loving the tv.

I have the 55" version of this Sony TV and I would highly recommend it over either the Samsung or Vizio TV shown. The Sony is the best TV I have purchased and before I bought it I would only buy Samsung.
With the built in TV Tuner you can call direct TV and get your service w/o a standard Satellite Box with the Sony series shown.

Samsung sucks. Get a Vizio

I'm getting mine delivered Thursday. Along with Sonos wireless surround sound. Can't wait.

So here is my next question. I'm not really familiar with HDR yet. When I choose the picture setting "HDR Video" while watching an HD channel on my Suddenlink Tivo DVR, I notice that the colors are really brightened and the skin tones seem to be more of an orange color. To be honest, that setting makes the picture look terrible. I haven't gotten a 4K Blu Ray player yet, so I have yet to experience the full effect of the tv. Is HDR supposed to be different than what I've experienced so far?

Yes, you are just turning on a feature that enhances non HDR content. HDR is more noticeable than 4K.

I can second that. My Sony Android TV has every app I need, ESPN, netflix, Vue and Sling, as well as Kodi, and has an Ethernet connection available.

Wait, so I don't need to buy an Amazon Fire TV box since I have this tv? I can somehow install Kodi on it and watch streaming 4K movies that way?

It has to be an HDR video to get the real affect of HDR. It doesn't matter if it's 4K or basic hd, it needs to be an HDR video. Netflix has some of their shows in HDR as well as amazon. And I'm pretty sure the 4K ultra hd blu rays are hdr as well
Turning on that setting with basic hd or 4K content will just do what you experienced, over saturation and over brightness

You got that right bud.
only need 1 remote, the one that comes with the tv. You can toggle between your apps, which it has pretty much all of except for DirectvNow, but i'm sure they'll get it later, your locals through antenna, and Kodi. You have no need for a Roku or FireTV or AppleTV with this TV. The TV is basically a large tablet with a remote, obviously not touch screen. You can mirror images to it as well if for whatever reason there isn't the app you need but it's on your phone.
I have a surround sound hooked up to it as well that syncs with the tv without you doing anything, so you don't need a separate remote for that either.
This Sony is without a doubt the best tv I've ever owned by a landslide.
It's also very easy to add Kodi. You don't have to go download outside crap and take certain settings off and all like on the FireTV. The Kodi app is the the google play store. You install it then go install whatever repos in the app. There's no jail breaking or a bunch of steps involved to get it installed.

I'm getting the 75" Sony today. I had heard that it was always best to use a streaming device as the smart TVs weren't as powerful and would become "buggy". I'm guessing this TV is different? May still get a Roku Ultra just for some of the random apps I use on it.

I have Roku's and FireTV throughout the house. I don't use anything on my Sony that's in my living room. It has everything I need. Locals through antenna, Netflix, Vue, Kodi, WatchESPN, FoxSportsGo (since baton rouge fox picture is shite), NBCSports, CBSSports, etc. Once you have Kodi, there really isn't a need for any other app other than watching live sports. You really dont' need Netflix, although I have it b/c my kids watch it and I don't want them on Kodi.
There literally is no need for Roku/FireTV/AppleTV with this tv if you install kodi on it. it has all the main apps, but if there is one that it doesn't have, you can find the show on Kodi.
What's also great about this tv, is the using one remote for everything. I can quickly change the picture resolution if i'm watching sports, regular shows, something nature or something that would like good with vibrant colors, or a movie that is dark.

Awesome! I damn near bought a Fire Tv box the same night I picked up this tv, but luckily Best Buy was sold out of them. Thanks for the advice!
