my bundle price for Directv and internet is $90/month and the total bill is always $97
+1 in my neighborhood in Austin. $96 per month after fees/taxes for direct tv & att internet bundle with 4 receivers. NFL Sunday ticket included. And I choose the 3rd or 4th cheapest package because it was the cheapest one that carried Root Sports for Astros games. There were cheaper bundles available in the $75-$85 range after all charges.

There is only a $15 difference between my internet/DirecTV Now cost and the introductory year TV/internet bundles where I live. The savings come after that year when cable/internet jumps $70 after your promo pricing ends. I could go through the hassle of jumping between providers every year, but screw that.
I doubt my setup should be considered "cutting the cable" though.
I could easily go back to just antenna and Netflix/Amazon Prime though, but only because I have an ESPN login from the cable that my wife and I pay for at my dad's house.

originally, cord cutting was dumping cable/satellite, and going to internet only with something like netflix, hulu, and prime.
then came streaming services dtvnow and vue. so with those, you are still cutting the cord, but back on a package similar to cable or satellite, just slimmed down a bit and delivered over your internet connection, rather their proprietary manner.

this is what kept me away from directv forever. 2 year contract, with a low rate for the first 6 months, rate jumps next 6 months, then skyrockets for the last 12 months of the contract. thankfully, once att bought dtv, they dumped that model and are just guaranteeing a rate for 2 years.

It was the cheaper option for me because I already had Prime, Netflix, HBO and Hulu to go along with my cable. I did temporarily add CBS for 5 bucks a month but got bored with it and canceled.
The only real additional expense for me cutting the cord was a $30 digital antenna for local stations.
I do pick up some form of cable during college season. Last year it was PSVUE just so I can get ESPN but PSVUE is cheaper than basic cox cable so I'm still paying less than I was during football season.
I've been happy and haven't missed anything.
Main reason I cut the cord was I realized I was going about 8 months of the year without touching the cable remote.
Married folks aren't going to be able to cut the cord as easily because 98% of women love the crappy channels which don't have stand alone internet access.

I signed up for an ATT/DirecTV bundle. They couldn't set up the DirecTV and I already had ATT internet set up, so I didn't feel like cancelling when it worked great and getting Comcast. I use Sling for 65 plus 40 for ATT with a data cap well beyond what I'd ever use. So that's a reliable 105 that's not going to rise anytime soon and I don't have to worry about the picture going out in bad weather. Of course occasionally my Internet fricks up, but far less than DirecTV did when I lived with my parents. I get all my sports, so it works for me.

I have vue (highest package, about $80 after tax), prime, Hulu, Netflix and when you factor in internet, it's probably pretty close to what I was paying att. Im really just doing this because I'm tired of getting locked into contracts and getting hosed after my intro period is up. That really pisses me off. No such thing as customer loyalty.

Cox bill was about $207/month
Dropped tv with them about 6 months back and upped my internet by $10.
Added Vue. Total savings of about $85 a month.
We already had prime and Netflix.
