After a few years, Butlook dot com (not the real name) is asking me to verify my account by giving them a textable number to receive a code to enter to get back into my mailbox.

Any recs for a working BS text number service so I can just type in a disposable SMS text number in the pop-up box, get the code on my PC or iPhone and go my merry way after entering it?

My goo gull voice number is not being accepted and those intrusive bastards don’t need my damn cell number.

I recently had a similar need and the free services I looked into either were listed as scammy or didn't work. AT&T has a $2 a day service with a $10 minimum and $10 was the cheapest solution I could find. Just took an old iphone into the AT&T store and got set up pretty quickly.

Thanks.

I have an old iPhone I could use. Or perhaps get a go phone Sim from Walmarks or something? Wonder if there’s an app that would work, as well.

Eta: I see your scammy site addition. That’s all I saw from my search.

I looked into go phones and all of that. Those programs are all regular monthly plans for people with bad credit who need to pay as they go. They aren't the On Demand pay for what you use programs you're thinking of and I guess maybe they were originally marketed as before everyone had unlimited talk and text.

Just go into an AT&T store with your old iPhone and tell them that you want to set up a new number on the $2 a day plan because you just need to receive one text. They'll pop in a new Sim card and you'll be able to get your text. If you think you'll need the same number later you'll need to pay $10 every other month or they'll deactivate it. I just paid $10 and figure I'll just get a new number if I need to be verified again.

It’s certainly worth trying, but that one didn’t work for me. I never would receive the verification text.

Try blur from abine. I use their free masking services and I believe they do a phone/sms for a price.

Burner and Hushed are some other options
