My Laptop was locking me out this morning. IT guy fixed it. Now I can log back in, but Chrome won't let me access G-Mail or even Google's main page without telling me, "Not Secure," and giving me an error/warning message that reads:

Your connection is not private

Attackers may be trying to steal your information from www.google.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

I did some searching from my Phone-using Google LOL-and it appeared some folks just tweaked the day/date/time zone settings for the fix. Mine are already correct.

Can someone tell me WTF is going on and give me a solution to access these programs without having to wait another 90 minutes for IT to get me a 7.5 second fix?

TIA

Check the date and time on your computer. if the date and time are wrong Chrome cannot verify the SSL certificate.

Thanks for the response. From my post:

This is a Browser agnostic issue. It's happening for Chrome & IE.

If your company is using a Web filter/monitor application then Google is likely detecting that device as a man in the middle attack.

Where are you trying to connect from? Would it happen to be LSU's campus?

No. My office wifi. It's just me and another guy in here. We split it.

I saw this last week on a network that requires MAC registration before proceeding online. The MAC had a duplicate entry with different DDNS names. Once the dupe entry was removed, they were able to connect just fine.

Did the IT guy install new or update the existing antivirus software? Some AV apps have "web" protections enabled which scan your encrypted connections. They do this by being a middleman between you and your destination. You browser would detect this and display the message you are seeing.

IT came back by after I put in a ticket. Just needed to reset Settings in Internet Options of I.E.

As soon as I reset those, it resets I.E. to the default browser. Chrome eventually switches in the back ground some kinda way, or it may have prompted me and I absentmindedly say okay absent-mindlessly.

But as soon as I reset those settings and deleted browising history, all was well. Crazy that's how simple it is, but that's usually how it goes...
