What’s recommended as far as deals/promos/plans for Verizon these days?

Switching from AT&T and have an iPhone XS. Don’t necessarily need a new phone right now although battery is starting to get annoying.

Just a single plan for me but my folks are going to swap to Verizon as well so they’re looking for a family plan. They have older phones, 6s and 8plus I think, and an iPad or two with cellular.

Verizon has great plans, but I just switched after Ida and be warned that I was surprisingly disappointed in the service. Some areas are fine, but other areas that I didn't have issues with ATT are completely out of service.

I’m very disappointed with Verizon. Service sucks.

Are y’all talking about coverage or customer service?

I switched back to Verizon during IDA after having at&t for a couple of years. I was surprised at how Verizon’s service isn’t what it used to be a couple of years ago. I drop calls all the time that didn’t used to be an issue before. For as much money as I pay Verizon it’s been a disappointment.

Are you switching because of money or you want better coverage?

I was in this same boat a few months ago and ended up staying with ATT. Upgraded to all of the new plans and brought my parents and sister in my plan as well. For 6 lines with unlimited elite plans, 3 phones with installments and 1 with insurance we pay around $276 total

Verizon was much higher than that when I was comparing which is why I ended up staying with ATT

Coverage is worse. Immediately after Ida, I was so pissed at ATT for being down for days and all the people i knew with Verizon were still rolling. So I switched. Actually saving about $60/month with military and auto-pay discounts. We all got new phones for free with the 1k/new line deal they had. So money wise, it was a no brainer. Now, I'm a bit disappointed in the coverage. With that being said, it's not so bad that I'm calling ATT again just yet.

Honestly, in SE Louisiana, I've found TMobile to be the best. Coverage and speed wise along with pricing.

I'm currently with ATT but when the time arises will probably go back to TMobile. I was able to get/send calls and texts right after Ida when folks with ATT and Verizon were not.

Verizon coverage is just OK but worth it to not deal with headaches from ATT

Since no one wants to answer OPs question

I went with the Play More Unlimited to get the free Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+. I cannot get HuluLive without paying for a separate service, but just use Fubo instead. This was a must have for Disney bc of the little ones

Wife's (not the OT, so rules don't apply) plan is the Do More Unlimited. This gives us 50% off of our hotspot (can be used for smartwatches as well) plan

Before you switch, check to see if they have any free phone deals. They were offering free iPhones with a new line as long as you signed up for one of the above unlimited plans. Not sure if that is still a deal, but may be worth checking out with your battery issues. When we bought our new iPhones, it was buy 1 get 1 free w/ a new line. We didn't qualify because we were already Verizon customers, but it may work out for your family.

Better coverage. Moved to a new area and AT&T coverage has been problematic. My sister lives nearby, has Verizon, has no issues, and it seems like her signal has always been better than mine with AT&T up here.

Thanks for the response. Yea it seems like a lot of the extra plans are just tacking on things like disney/hbo/etc, which I'm not interested in. That simplifies things.

How do you like the hotspot? Use it much?

Looks like right now they are giving away free iPhone 11's with no trade-in. Or, I can trade in my XS for a 13 pro.

It looks like my options for a single plan are around $80/mo or so plus a new phone, or $55/mo with no upgrade.

They have the majority of towers from what I've seen.

Haven't had issues with ATT prepaid until recently but I assume it has to do with the 3G phase out.

Used the shite out of it after Ida But when I first bought it I used it all the time, now I only use it when on vacation (other than Ida) so we're not at the mercy of the hotel/rental Wi-Fi speeds or my phone internet speeds. With the Do More Unlimited I pay $10.08 a month for the HotSpot.

I like it a lot, is very reliable once connected. Every now and then I have issues connecting to it (phone tries to connect to other devices), but once connected I am good to go.

Did not work well in the mountains or international, but it's about 5 years old so I am sure they have improved that with the newer models.
