Ok, so we currently have a bunch of echo dots and one Echo Show. We have the following stuff so my question becomes, what's the easiest way to convert over a lot of this stuff to play nicely with Google Home?

-Nest thermostat (Google Product)
-nVidia Shield TV (plays nice with Google)
-a bunch of Cree or GE Lightbulbs (like 10)
-Lumitron dimmable light switch

All pretty much brought together with Wink, which I hate. So how do I pull all these together?

Finally, I have my Nest thermostat and nVidia Shield TV on currently but my "Google Home" won't recognize those devices - why?
I do not currently have any Google home products connected to my wifi, is that the reason?

Looks like I just added the Nest account so I got my thermostat and cameras now connected as well as the nvidia shield.

So now just need to figure out how to get my wink connected lightbulbs swapped over.
Thanks for any help! Pretty sure they're the GE lightbulbs but they're all tied to my wink account.

Sweet lord, looks like wink is simply compatible with google home via the app and I just linked all of it.

Guys, I'm sorry, I'm weeetaaaaded.

I feel like I just sold my soul to google. Ugh.
Not sure it’s any worse than selling my soul to amazon.

Glad you got it figured out.

Why did you switch? Just curious.

"Hey Google Launch "PlayStation Vue"" works.

" Hey Google play "Planet Earth" on Netflix" works.

The individual apps themselves have to add the functionality to do things within them.

Also, routines are great.

When I say "TV On" I have the commands to be launching the Shield TV and launching PlayStation Vue. I figure we're using that app the most and it's easier if it just goes straight to that app instead of the Home screen.

"Living Room On" turns on the TV and the lights. Living Room Off shuts everything down. So does "Goodnight".

Bought 3 more minis and 7 more smart switches, an outdoor smart switch for the Christmas lights, and two smart plugs for my bedside lamps and will add all those in a few days.

Just bought a Google home hub. Can't wait to set it up at home. I think lights are my first venture then speakers and thermostat. My mother and her fiance have a big spread in Slidell. Showed them how all this stuff can help and they might go shopping tomorrow

Ya, my first speaker was an Echo as a gift. It just did not work well with my Android TV.

I then decided to get a Shield TV(which has Google Assistant as well) and just go all in with Google. Right now I just have the living room lights/fan and TV set up. Also, I made my surround sound system the speaker for any music I ask the mini to play (via the Shield).

That's probably the biggest thing to watch for if you have multiple Google Assistant devices. Make one the priority just makes it easier. In my case, the mini made the most sense.

Teddy, I love ya! (Even if you are a LSU fan)
I got some of these to work at home and now even my girls are yelling the commands out!

Thank y’all!

Set up a google hub and mini. I'll be getting a few more minis as I don't have a need for amazing speakers. Security system is next

You can also setup the speakers into speaker groups and cast music to more than one at a time. Pretty cool feature.

Yes, I have that set up but won't use it much with what I have now. I wanted a speaker in the bathroom because I like to listen to music in the shower. My mother and her fiance have a big spread and parties all of the time. This tech will benefit them

Both do a great job of putting all your convos in the cloud. Hope you aren’t conservative!

Follow up question for anyone that has a google home, nVidia shield tv and YouTube tv...
I keep seeing that you should be able to control YouTube tv with the nVidia shield tv and google home but how?
I’ve tried:
“Hey google, launch espn on YouTube tv” and a bunch of derivatives like that phrase.

Any ideas? Seems like it may not be working correctly with the shield just yet?
