Sonos troubleshooting help

I have a Sonos speaker. One only. The wife purchased it maybe five years ago, used it a month or two, then stuck in a closet. It was a prize at a conference, so she didn't value it.
She recently cleared it out and was going to give it to Goodwill. I stepped in and staked a claim on it. Not sure what I'll use it for, but wanted to play with it.
Well, it's so old now, that it won't update using the Sonos app. I tried every trick in the book, installing, uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple tines on both my phone and on a PC. I tried it by WiFi and by Ethernet. I even moved it out to the garage and connected directly to the main router (Orbi). I also connected NY computer to the router.
Nothing.
I contacted Orbi support. An hour later, the guy gave up and has escalated this to a higher level of tech, but I'm waiting to get an email to set a date/time.
Any suggestions? The speaker is seen by the app and WiFi. That's not the problem. Can you FTP into it and give it a command to update?
Any help is appreciated. Hey CAD, maybe we could work a trade if I get it working?

All sonos speakers are still supported. Do you know which model it is? Play 1,3,or5?
I would recommend trying to reset the speaker then trying again.
Also sonos support is usually pretty helpful in These situations.

quote:
Disconnect the power cord and leave it disconnected for at least ten seconds. Hold down the Mute or Play/Pause button, depending on which Sonos component you are using, and reconnect the power plug. Continue holding the Mute or Play/Pause button until the status indicator light begins to flash amber. Once the indicator light begins flashing amber, let go of the button. Eventually, it will start flashing green and white simultaneously, meaning it is factory reset and ready to add back to your Sonos system.

It's a Play 3.
Will try that sometime later today. That was not suggested by the tech help.

Sonos help is outstanding.
I'm more disturbed after reading my threads on here you had a Sonos 3 weeping quietly in a closet somewhere for years.

Bitch, once a woman puts down something techy, it's over! It will be there forever.
I bought my wife (attorney) a nice set of bluetooth headphones w mic for talking on the phone and freeing up her hands to write/research at the same time. It's so strong you can literally leave your cell in one room and travel anywhere thru the house and patio and have a clear connection. Totally hands free. Well, she set them aside, and to this day, walks around with her phone pinched between her ear and raised shoulder while trying to multitask.
Drives me fricking insane
