Having a hard time pairing them so the Echo Show 5 can control the Sonos One
The Alexa on the Sonos One is no where near as responsive as the on the Echo show
Any tips?

I quickly learned Sonos is sonos only. Sounds great but mine doesn’t work worth a shite with Alexa.

If you get a dot and plug it into the headphone jack on your amp that the sonos is attached to you can voice control music through your sonos zones with Alexa. I haven’t found another way for it to work

What is your Sonos speaker named in the Alexa app? Make sure when you ask Alexa to play something on your Sonos speaker to say something like this, “Alexa, play Christmas music on kitchen.”
I have a beam and use it a lot to direct music around the house. I also have a dot in a few rooms. The dot is more responsive no doubt but I have no problem using the beam.

I don't understand this. Almost every dot in my house is paired with one or more nearby Sonos speakers.
All you have to do is go into Alexa app, go to devices, create a group and give it a name like "game room" and it will allow you to select/pair any individual Sonos speaker or multiple speakers as the default music output for that particular dot.
All you have to do is say "alexa play Paul Anka" and it will always play music through the Sonos grouped with that dot.
Bonus is it will even default the volume to whatever you specify so that late night infected mushroom jam session won't blow you up the next morning when you're having coffee and want some jazz in the background.

That worked. Going to be investing in some dots.
The main trouble was using the Alexa on the Sonos One. Not responsive like a show or dot

I have a Sonos 1 and have never experienced that. It seems to respond just as fast as my dots. What is slow for you? I wonder if it might just need to be rebooted? When I first got mine I had some trouble with Alexa so I removed it from the 1 and added it back and that seemed to resolve all the issues.
