Sonos accidental discovery

I just accidentally discovered my Sonos One speakers will play sound from my Apple TV. Maybe this is not new but I haven’t read anything on this. I have 2 Sonos Ones in my living room, no bar, beam, or base. Only thing is I cannot control the Sonos volume with the Apple remote. I will be looking to see if it’s programmable though.
Any insight on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Are the Sonos Ones AirPlay 2 compatible? That might be why.

I have 2 Sonos:Play 1 (gen 1) but am debating starting to replace all of those with Apple HomePods when they go on sale again around the 199$ price.
I know you're more of an audiophile to me, any thoughts on the Sonos Play 1s (gen 1 or 2) vs the Apple HomePod?

Not trying to hijab but I have Apple TV and have been debating this same thing: a Sonos or Apple home pod setup? Can someone walk me through the pros/cons of either? My ideal outcome would be a couple speakers we can wirelessly link with Apple TV when watching tv, but also retain the ability to uncouple and move around the house as we please on occasion.

I'm in the same boat. We have plenty of Sonos's around the house (2 play1s, a gen1 play5, the playbar + sub, etc). However, we use Google home's throughout our house but for the last 3-4 months we're having to scream at the thing to turn off the lights.
I've read that the Apple HomePod does amazing at being able to hear over loud volume and long distance to control it's homekit enabled devices. Now, I know it's not as "smart" as Google and Alexa but I just need it to control lights and my appletv 4ks. I don't need to have conversations with the damn thing or play scrabble, etc.
I've heard that the HomePod sounds amazing but to me, it's not worth it at the normal 299$ price. However, when it goes back on sale, I'm wondering if it's worth it at 200$ ?!

So you want to get rid of $2200 of audio equipment because google can’t hear you ?
Why not just buy a new voice interface?

No no, not at all. I did a poor job of explaining I think.

Yes, that's what I'm shooting for. Right now, we have like 2 Google Home Minis and 1 Home Hub (v1) in the kitchen.
I'm debating if I should ditch those for 1-2 HomePods and slowly grow with the Apple Homepods/siri. I enjoy my Sonos Play Bar and Sub and wouldn't ditch that.
Objective would be to ditch Google Home and slowly phase it out with Apple HomePods (and hopefully they have homepod minis soon).
TigerWise, any experience with the HomePods? If so, thoughts on sound quality or just general use/smart home use for controlling lights, etc?
