I haven't heard the Tap yet but I bought a UE Boom 2 a couple months ago and am happy with it. It can get wet and be dropped and be fine. It sounds really good too.

The Bose Soundlink Mini 2 is the best reviewed one I've seen as far as sound goes.

The Fugoo portable speaker is waterproof and has a 40 hour battery life but it didn't get loud enough for me.

It looks pretty cool. It has a chargeable battery huh? Wish it had a double A option to bring camping.

Very true. After hearing one of those once, I had to get one of my own to replace my old bluetooth speaker that died. The Harman-Kardon Onyx is amazing.

It looks like a pretty good option for a portable speaker. The only thing that I don't like about it is you have to press the button each time you want it to do something if you are not controlling the music from your phone. I have the echo and you just yell at it to change the song or ask it whatever.

Looks like cool tech. I wanted bigger sound than most of the smaller units out there so over a year ago I got a NYNE Bass. Of course, it's low-tech and is quite a bit bigger than other "portables".

I use it on my boat, camping, etc...I don't know how many times we've brought it to other folks get-togethers and we're outdoors and they have some small portable that you can barely hear. I break this thing out and everyone loves it as it rocks.

Bigger is better.

I went with the Aiwa Exos-9 based on Amazon reviews. Sounds pretty good for a Bluetooth, but it is large and weighs over 10 lbs.

Amazon's Alexa tech-which is hardbaked into the Echo/Tap/Dot-has the potential to allow you to control much more than your music, which is the extent of these other products controls.

Amazon has open-sourced the Alexa software to allow for any new tech for the automated home to use it for free. Which means you could use your Echo/Tap/Dot to control stuff like your thermostat, garage door opener, indoor or outdoor lights, get playlists from streaming music services, etc.

The functionality built into Amazon's Echo/Tap/Dot through Alexa will provide a value far greater than anything the other products can ever hope to achieve.
