i'm on S2 and if the play 1s hadn't transferred i would have been pissed.

i also noticed my wife cant' see any of the play 1s as casting devices from apple music; she can see the sonos 1 and the soundbars and the ikea speakers, but not the fricking play 1s which are literally my most common speaker.

Yeah, play:1s aren’t AirPlay compatible. You could probably get >$100 each for them though if they’re still in good condition and upgrade them.

Yes, in-ceilings will be on the same zone. I’m mainly putting the in-ceilings to spread sound into the open concept kitchen area for music, but I should be able to use them for rear surrounds too right? Not a perfect location for rear surrounds (in-ceiling) but wanted to keep a clean look in the new house. For music, sound would play through soundbar, sub, and in-ceilings together unless I unpair them correct?

If you have 4 in ceilings I would consider a passive center channel (can look like a soundbar) and get a 5.1 AVR.

Denon and Marantz have the heos app, Yamaha has musicast, onkyo has an app… Heos has stereo amps like a sonos amp that will push stereo pairs in different rooms in the house while all being connected to the same app. They also have portable speakers
